Professor George Gasyna named IPRH Faculty Fellow for 2017-18

George Gasyna, Associate Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures and Comparative and World Literature, is one of seven U. of I. faculty members awarded a Faculty Fellowship for the 2017-18 academic year, from the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities (IPRH).

Professor Gasyna’s project is titled “A Time for the Province: Palimpsest and Contact in Twentieth-Century Polish Borderland Literature.” His major research interests include modern and contemporary Polish literature, exile and emigration practices, modernism and the avant-garde, and Jewish-Polish relations.

Three of the seven IPRH Faculty Fellows for 2017-18 are from the School of Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics. In addition to Prof. Gasyna, others receiving IPRH fellowships include Clara Bosak-Schroeder, Classics, and Eleonora Stoppino, French and Italian.

The IPRH theme for 2017-18 is “Paradigm Shifts”.

Additionally, Professor Manuel Rota, French and Italian, has been named an IPRH “New Horizons” Summer Faculty Research Fellow for 2017.
