Take Part in the 2011 Hunger Symposium
Only 45% of the 79,000 people in Eastern Illinois that are food insecure are eligible for food stamps. What can you do? Come to the 2011 Hunger Symposium on September 26, from 7-8:30pm, presented by the Eastern Illinois Food Bank and the University of Illinois Family Resiliency Center.
The Symposium will consist of a panel-style discussion moderated by the Family Resiliency Center's Brenda Koester. Panelists and participants will examine and discuss growing public-private partnerships and why policy solutions are important in this issue. Panelists include Melissa Cundari from the USDA Midwest Regional Office, Dr. Craig Gundersen from the University of Illinois, Tracy Smith of Feeding Illinois, and Jason Wetzel of Wal-Mart.
To learn more about the panelists and how you can get involved, please go to the Hunger Symposium's website. Locations details are included, as is a way to submit questions prior to the event.
